The Café-Theatre Project
The Café-Theatre Project was a Modern Languages initiative developed by Oxford Brookes University with the support of OISSP. Beatrice Davies from Westminster Institute and her PGCE students worked with Key Stage 4 pupils from The Oxford Academy, Cheney School and The European School. The pupils produced scripts in French for actors (professional and amateur) to perform and took part in a night of French comedy and theatre based on the original Cafe-Theatre de Paris.
This intensive enrichment programme encouraged content enhanced language learning through the analysis of selected café-theatre texts, creative writing in the style of French café-theatre, workshops and performance.
Alexandre Delimoges (Theatre Director of Le Bout a Paris), Christophe Zinck (Comedian) and Yoann Chabaud (Comedian), three professional actors from France, led the drama workshops that culminated in two lively performances at The Old Fire Station Theatre in Oxford on 4th May.
