OISSP is looking forward to a new term of science-based workshops, events and awards starting in September 2010. This includes The Go4SET scheme, developed by EDT for Year 9 pupils, which has taken off in other parts of the country and was successfully introduced in Oxfordshire in 2008/2009. It provides a focused approach to pupils working with science industry partners on engaging school-based projects. Teams of six Year 9 pupils will come together with companies and university departments for an 8-10 week Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics experience. This live and co-created STEM project will raise pupils’ awareness of future career opportunities in STEM and will help pupils to make informed decisions about Key Stage 4 options. Participation in Go4SET also counts for a Silver CREST award.
